Existing Groups and Organisations
Transition Norwich recognises that Norwich is blessed with many existing groups and organisations who are already working to create different aspects of a more resilient Norwich. We want to work in partnership with as many of these groups as possible.
For example, we would hope that theme groups working on topics like food, transport, waste etc can include existing groups already working on these themes. In some cases it might even be appropriate for an existing group to become a theme group of Transition Norwich, provided that conditions about inclusiveness etc can be met.
Other existing groups and organisations will have much to offer to a Heart and Soul theme group. A Heart and Soul group focusses on the cultural changes that are needed to underpin more practical changes towards a resilient local economy. All of us may need to change our perceptions, aspirations and values. Faith groups, artists and many others will have much to offer in this regard.
A resilient local economy will tend to emphasise smaller, more locally-owned businesses that source more of their goods and services in turn from local suppliers. Business groups that share this aspiration will be encouraged to join in Transition Norwich.
